ABOUT MS. RUTHANN, the stable manager and head riding instructor of EQUI-VENTURE:
She is a former USPC instructor and has taught horsemanship to beginner
through advanced children and adults in English and Western riding for over 25 years.
As a teen, she successfully showed Quarter Horses with trainer Patricia Anderson and made it to “Congress”,
(one of the nation’s largest Quarter Horse shows). In her late teens,
Ms. RuthAnn rode endurance
with her Arab mare “Sheba”.
Then she discovered eventing and dressage.

Hill, Bonnie Lanphear, Greta Clemmens, Sally Swift and Jo Struby to name a few. She
acquired a Stable Management degree and a degree in Equine Science that focused on instruction and training. She has
also groomed race horses of top trainers like, J. Larry Jones and Dallas Keene
to learn more about the conditioning, training and vet care of horses. Ms. RuthAnn successfully

Previously to opening up Equi-Venture Equestrian Centre, she and her husband have owned and managed two other equestrian
facilities, one in Maryland and one in Indiana. During the thirty years of operating equine facilities, they
have been licensed in boarding, training and providing instruction. They have always
maintained each state’s highest, rigid inspection scoring. Due to
the large number of lesson students, each stable had it's own 4-H club, Pony Club and it's own saddle clubs
for adults.
Ms. RuthAnn stopped
competing at the higher levels to devote her time to their children and to home school. Ms. RuthAnn's love of horses and children keeps her devoted to continue teaching safe ‘horsemanship’,
not just riding, to all children and adults who truly want to learn. She attends
clinics and seminars to keep updated, and is a member of the CHA (Certified Horseman’s
Association) and the ARIA (American Riding Instructor Association), and strives for excellence in: the care of horses,
safety, proper riding and handling techniques, and also in having fun with horses.
ABOUT OUR STAFF:
EQUI-VENTURE is
run by our family. We provide most of the daily care of the horses
at the facility. This way, we can meet the needs of our clients personally to
ensure quality care. We truly do offer TLC for your horse. Our family members try to treat each horse how they would want their own horse treated. We have always taught our children that everyone who owns and loves their horse, wants the caretaker of
that horse to treat it as a special animal. Obviously, our family has always
been around horses, but they do truly love the animal.

The family “staff” attends clinics and seminars, and even have
track experience. Our older daughters are also CHA members and the assistant
instructors and trainers. They help instruct students and help to manage the
barn. Our younger daughters are currently student assistants and ring assistants. They assist students with tacking up, getting horses or helping students with
questions or with things they can’t do. The younger ones also help to manage
the barn. The whole family helps with stalls, feeding, and watering.

The other people that
help us are truly special horse people. We have a business manager/accountant and an
events organizer/secretary. We have additional instructors as well. Many of our stable members voluntarily
help with facility maintenance, repairs and new construction work. These wonderful
people volunteer a lot at the events we hold here. They are key “stable
hands” in the success of the farm’s activities and help with the training of the horses, help out with the lesson
students, barn chores and do a great job helping to condition and school the
horses. And of course, we have a wonderful group of boarders that are ready
to support and to lend a hand with many of our stable projects. We are
truly blessed with these good people!

OUR MISSION STATEMENT:
Our mission is to teach horsemanship, not just riding; by striving for excellence in the care and training of
the horse, and practicing safety in the handling and riding techniques of the horse. All of this should be done in a
way that the horse understands what we are asking of him. This is accomplished by using the tried and true EQUI-VENTURE
standards of DEDICATION, SAFETY, DISCIPLINE, EDUCATION and DETERMINATION.
